    So I bought the following set up from Sears/Craftsman:

    http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950188000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

    Up to this point the creeper has been horrible so I had to buy a new one at NAPA on Saturday and spend $120, the jack stands have worked, but now I am having issues with the jack. It lowers itself slowly over time. I thought the kids were messing with it and thank heavens I had the jack stands in place but I like to have the jack AND the jack stands in place - something about that whole getting crushed by a car thing. Also when I lower the jack it doesn't lower slow and gently it just kind of plops the car down. To that end, I am now looking for a good reliable and most importanly safe floor jack.

    Any suggestions out there?????

    Steve:confused:

    Steve - I would take the jack back to Sears for a warranty replacement. It sounds like it has a seal leaking.

    I have a 2T that I bought from NAPA may 20+ years ago. It always holds the vehicles up. On going down: I found once I put some pentrating oil on the release gear it would lower the vehicles at a speed controlled by the rotation of the handle bar.

    Thanks!!!!

    Larry - Thank you for the advice on taking back the floor jack. I looked it up and they will replace them for up to one year. It's not lifetime but good enough to not feel I have wasted all sorts of money. I will probably use it as a backup but I still want to get a more reliable one.

    vwnate1 - You are right about the sticker shock on those. They are a lot of money. I'll see if I can find one here locally so shipping doesn't kill me.

    Used Trolly Jacks

    FWIW ;

    Most pawn shops get them in from time to time , never be afraid to offer less and ALWAYS insist on dragging it out to your truck & testing it by lifting the front end before paying anything.....

    Make sure it goes all the way up and let it sit up for 20 minutes to see if it has leakdown problems .

    I buy a fair bit of used tools but I don't buy stolen tools as I believe in the Laws of Karma.... :cool: .
