:confused:I went on the hunt for a new project today. Found a BIG truck. It is a GMC and it was a grain truck.
I want to know what I can use from this truck to build 1/2 ton< doors, cab, fenders??
Has a good motor also with 4 speed and PTO hook up. Can I use these.
Also is it possible to put 52 door handles on 50 door. I want single glass door with push button handles.
I found 5 trucks today so I'm going to start buying them to put 1 or more together. Thanks for any input.

How BIG is big? The cab and doors are the same. Fenders up to a certain point are interchangable.

As far as ventless window and push button doors are certained, that's an iffy subject. The innerds of the doors are different as are the mechanisms that drive them. Lots of modifications are required. I'm not saying it can't be done (anything is possible), but remember that pull down handles happened from 47.2 thru 51, ventless windows from 47.2 thru 50, vented window doors were from 51 thru 55.1 and push button door handles were from '52 thru 55.1. It all depends on how much you are willing to modify to acheive the desired look.

You can't change the pull down door handles to push button but you can change the glass on the push button door over to the one piece glass. What I did was get the 1 piece glass out of an early door and all the channels then swapped it over to the push button door. I didn't use the window regulators because I went with power windows instead. As far as the fenders go I think the bigger trucks had bigger fenders. I believe the doors are the same, I'm not too sure about the cabs. If the engine is the original 6 you might have a 302 which is a good thing cause you can build a lot of HP. and there are lots of performance parts still available. Even stock they have way more power than the 235's and the 261 Chevy's I hope this helps....Big Tim
