No. But make sure you trust the seller very much. When they run the VIN and it comes up hot you are possibly out of a vehicle.
I've had to get one for my pick-up. In Texas it's the only way to get it if you've lost the title...my truck did not come up as stolen, the guy before me had a lien against the vehicle, but the bank went belly up. So I'm left with a truck that I have to get a bonded title for. The part that sucks the most is I have to carry insurance for my truck (which is a pile of parts currently) for 3 years. Valued at $19k!!! So I'm putting this off for a little bit (until I'm out of college probably). Good luck with yours, I'd take the VIN to the DMV and have them get you a history on the truck. Or if you have any friends in your local P.D ask them to run the numbers and see what comes up
