    Hey Boop's Dad,
The day is getting near. What does the truck look like? We need pictures either now or of the grand opening when you present it as a birthday gift!
    Just checkin'

    Yeah, what gives?

You've been aweful quiet lately. You didn't take up golf just so you could justify buying that golfcart, did you?:D

    Still here

Sorry I havent been pitching in on the posts much lately, been REALLY busy. WORK, WORK, WORK, makes Jack a very DULL boy.

The truck has come to a stand still, don't look like the Boop is gona drive it on the big day, it is waiting for fenders, hood and bumpers. The parts that it takes two to install. The Boop has been hitting the books hard and I'm very proud of her, even though she will be 17 on the 3rd she's in her 2nd year of college and holds a 4.0, WOW, I told her that I had a 4 when I was in school. Of course that was when they graded 0 to 100:eek: . Anyway the cuz has been pushing me HARD to get his wireing done. I like about a day finishing up and I've spent a lot of time over there.

Don't seem right since he held me up over 4 months on my paint job and when I do get a painted truck... excuse the expression, the paint job SUCKS! Every time I look at it I find a new run in the clear coat. I know it can be sanded out and buffed but that's not the principle of the thing. He just didn't care and slopped on the clear so he could get it out so I would do the rest of the wireing. Well, since my name and word are about all I have of value except my family, I am doing what I said. And if I might brag, I'm doing a first class job.

The Boop has been so sweet about it and has focused her attention for now on college and her baby sitting.

Man, God has been so good to me. She's always thinking of others. The Boops hair is nearly to her waist and curly from top to bottom. She is going sometime around her B-day to have it cut to give it to a group that provides hair for children with cancer.

I also took on a 3rd job at night to help my other daughter and son n law pay for the new grandchild that is on the way. He (son n law Joseph) is a wonderful son n law and works hard as a cabnet maker and makes fairly good money but they have no insurance. My mother gave me the bill from when I was born, I cost $24. There bill according to the doctor and hospital if all is well will be between 5 and 7 thousand. Now I know I'm old but that is rediculous.

I see I'm rambling. I'm gona work on the Boops ride saturday and hopefully lots over the next few days but the big day is only a week away and I don't think I can make it. I'm sure she will smile and say it's ok, but I wish I could do better for her. She's worth every minute of my time and more.

    Thanks for thinking of us...

    Oh, forgot.

HAPPY B-DAY Steve. I too have underwear older than that, but then I guess I shouldn't mention such things. I do have some new Wally world socks though. :D

Hope you have a great one...

    Hey Boop's dad!

Here's the deal, and think hard about it. Get the wiring done and tell cuz he can kiss your...well you know what. Pick a weekend that's convenient for you, give me a shout and you and me can knock this out. I can be there by 2 pm on any Friday from now until May and help you flange this up. I'm dead serious about this, so think about it. Nothing would make me happier than to get one more AD on the road again.

Pick the right weekend (not before late March, I'm skiing next week with friends and the week of March 10-16 with my daughter's family) and I'll ride along with you Ken. If you can stand the 2+ hour trip in my buggy, I'll drive.

    Awsome

You fellows are great, and I mean great.

I had my chops all set for a long work day on the Boops ride today and guess what... It's flooding outside... and the tent leaks and is on dirt so water is also running under it. I'm gonna see what I can get done over the next week or two and go from there.

It would be great to meet both of you in person and I would also enjoy working with you. I'll pay for a hotel for ya. My wife is very sick most of the time with complications from her diabeties and unable to entertain company or I would put you up at my house.

I can't hardly believe you would give up your time to help someone you never met but it would be great.

Of course sundays are full for me with church, but I might could take off a friday so we would have friday and saturday all day.

The Boop smiled when I told her and said "wow, that's great". We'll have to work out the details but even if I did get it finished in the next two or three weeks I would still love to have ya'll come and visit.

    Looking forward to it, TB'sD

That was back when they were made out of steel, wasn't it?

Hey TB'sD- How 'bout this idea- Tell your painter that you like his job SO MUCH that your going to get some of those fancy letters to put in the back window that advertise his business! (Just in case anyone wants to know who did such a quality job!):D
Tell him you won't take NO for an answer! 'Course you don't have to do it- but you might get an offer to work it over alittle bit closer.

Anyway- I hope it all comes together for you. I am proud of how well your daughter is doing with her education! It is so tough to come through those teen years with that kind of focus and commitment! Must have had a good example set for her, huh?;)

    Window Ad

The advertisment on the window isn't a bad idea:eek:

In their defense, I have seen much of their work. They do exceptional work, far better than you can get just about anywhere around this part of the country. The problem was that the two brothers couldn't agree on who was going to do my work after they agreed to do it. It ended up being a mix and match between the two. One did the orginal paint and stopped. the other did more painting and then one did part of the clear coat and the other finished it.

One has painted 100,000 $ plus cars and is so picky it hurts, the other hasn't painted in 15 years...

Guess which one made the agreement with me... yep, the one who hasn't painted in 15 years, but I didn't know that nor did I know that both had not made the agreement because I talked to both before I started and was led to believe both were all for it.

    Well, live and learn huh.

I shouldn't say anything bad about them, they are prone to mistakes just like me. But again, It was for the Boop and I guess I just had my sights set too high.

100 years from now it wont matter anyway. It's just a thing and things can be reworked or replaced. This whole ordeal, as silly as it is has made me do a little reality check up and taught me a little more patience and most importantly, has show me more of my little ladies character... and mine:eek: .

It will all work out,,, on the bright side, if it is finished by the time her child is driving, he/she will have a fairly nice truck:)

You guys are great as mentioned, I wish we could all get together somehow, someday and put faces to the names and lives.

    Thanks,,, TB'sD

Yeah Boop's Dad and Ken's 50, a get together sounds good. If you were'nt working three jobs and you and Ken could travel to North Central Texas (almost Oklahoma) you could use a space in my shop to get the birthday present done. I don't know when the next Canton auto swap meet is but it might be reasonable travel distance for each of us. Give it some thought.
P.S. The guys usually turn an AD frame off resto in 60 days--providing their dead butt boss has every single part they need at the time they need it, so, they are a great source for tips and advice. Just got to slip this in; a 30 Plymouth sedan they did won the best 30's sedan and best streetrod at the big Dallas auto show last weekend. Daddy's proud.

    Boop's Dad,
    Watch out!
I took my truck over to the painter last night and put the head board and tailgate on. I put my chain in with the hook from the outside and the guy said it should go the other way (like in your photo). Anyway, with the stiff new hose around it and the hoses trying to straighten themselves, the hooks popped out and the tailgate fell down and hit the bumper. Minimal damage but I still said a word that I don't ususally say. If you put the hook in from the outside then the hose (when trying to straighten) is pushing the hook into the hole, not pullingit out.
Just a thought. I know it put a littel damper on my ride home.

    Make your own chain cover

We used to make our chain covers out of black naugahide. Take a piece of naugahide the length of the chain and about 2 inches wide. Fold it in half lengthwise with the backing on the outside and sew a seam on it the entire length. When that's done, turn it inside out and you have basically a tube that will slip over the chain. It is very pliable and will allow the chain to drop down in a more normal state, if you will. They look good and do a good job of protecting your nice, new paint job!

Oh, and BTW, AWESOME TRUCK, DUDE!
