Fellow Chevy owners, I have a 1962 Chevy 3/4 ton.4x4, original axles, and drum brakes, new shoes and cylinders installed last year. I have alot of brake noise from the front brakes, sounds like disc brakes without the anti-sqeal goop on the back of the pad. A freind of mine suggested some grafite, sounds like this would reduce the friction between the shoes and the drums, thus causeing the brakes to be less effective. Anyone have any advice. Thank you.

I cured my problem, brake adjustment was too slack. Eccessive travel allowed the shoes and linkage to vibrate and make the squeal that was about to drive me crazy.
