Brakes are definitely not a strong area for me. I understand the basics of how they work, and when the shoes or pads need to be replaced, but that is about it.
I have a 1965 GMC with 4 wheel drums, no booster.
They used to offer more than enough stopping power, but recently it seems that I cant stop nearly as well. When I push down hard on the brake pedal it seems to hit a strong resistance part way down and then the brakes seem like they just arent engaging all of the way. The pads were last checked a couple thousand miles ago and had more than enough left.
I would like to see if anyone has any ideas what might be the problem before I try taking it to a brake shop. (8 lugs on 4 wheels means I am sitting at the shop waiting for quite a while)
