Hello all, While I am aware that this is a Chevy Truck forum... I'd like to share this video footage of a young man I mentored some years ago. He was awarded the Medal of Honor 7/21 for his actions in Afghanistan. He is one of 9 living soldiers to be bestowed this honor in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. I have been friends with his family for three decades. Some years back he asked me if he could do his High School Senior project on timberframing, a lost art I have been involved in for quite some time. During our time together, I came to know Ryan as a fine young man. Ryan turned down a full-boat scholarship to join the Army. Back in 2008 when he was injured, after being flown to a military hospital in Germany, and upon regaining conscoiusness, he called his family to tell them he "had gotten hurt, but would be OK". His only other request was that they notify ME to tell me he had been injured, and would be OK. After a YEAR in Walter Reed, he was medically retired from the military. I am humbled to call this true hero my friend. Thank you
There is a Medal of Honor event each year in Gainesville, Texas for MOH recipients. When they read off the heroic feats of these men it humbles a person to know what sacrifices are made so non-combat types safe at home (unless they get burned by their crack pipe) have the right preserved to burn our flag. Shake his hand, pat his back, and THANK him for me.
I am constantly in awe of our Service Men and Women. I'm so grateful for their service and respectful of their sacrifices on Our behalf. Thank You. Bill
Those Whom Serve So We May Live Will always be in our debt . You're lucky to have known this man . I was lucky to have been tutored by his grand parents generation .
