c20 chewing up alternator belts

working on my 82 c20 and it has been chewing up alternator belts, just put on a new belt a week ago and it started squealing again anyone have any thoughts?? my alternator seems to be charging well, maybe draging?? it is worst when i cold start or when i down shift but seems fine once we get going.

does it have a air pump system?


the pos air pumps will shit the bed and drag or lock up thusly eating belts, squeeling, and general failure.

got it, it actually was the alternator, wasn't that bad off but bushings must be wore out, rattling like "ole washing machine" put new one on and working fine so far
