Is the 70-81 camaro a bolt in or not? I searched the threads, people suggested the Camaro/Nova diffs, but not a clear yes or no, or better yet, why not if it doesn't.
Well... You'll still have to weld the perches and maybe change the shock mounts (welding again), so I wouldn't say it's all about the bolts. They do fit, however~ The other thing is they have 5 lugs. Depends on if you went 5 lug up front to make this whole thing work. Hope this helps.
Cut the stock brackets off, set up the rear in your truck, checking for center ,square and pinion angle, then weld on the saddle brackets where you need them.
I did this conversion to my 3/4 ton, one of the best things I've done to it. Yes you will need to put new spring perches and shock mounts on. You will need a new driveshaft probably also.
I used a 77 Nova rear in my 53 and it dropped right onto the springs with very little modification. I only notched the perches so the u-bolts would slide in.
Slow down a dang minute... 3/4 = axle under springs, 1/2 = axle on top of springs... Makes a difference on pinion angle, no? It sure matters as far as the perches go, right? 1/2 is welded to the bottom, 3/4 is welded to the top. Sooooo... for us 3/4 ton owners, don't get too carried away. We still have welding to do.
Sorry guys. I have a 1/2 ton shortbed 55 1st 5 window. No pictures yet, truck still in Iowa. I bought it off of Ebay. Glad I did because I missed out on an Old Navy truck by 5 bucks, then found the horror stories of how those trucks were prepared for the stores.
