My '64 C-10 has a Rochester Model B carburetor. The truck gets terrible mileage (10 mpg), the plugs are sooty with 1000 miles on the newly rebuilt motor. I've talked to some carb experts that are split on what to do: one says convert to a MonoJet, the other suggest that the rebuilt carb has the wrong jets and that the only solution is carefully rebuild the carb, and experiment with smaller jets. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I've got a '65 230, manual choke. Ten years ago the owner had the carburetor replaced with a Rochester Monojet. It caused me some confusion at first when I went to rebuild it. The carb seems to work fine, except that after 10 years the gaskets don't seal and it floods continuously. Time to rebuild.
I want to know if anyone else has an opinion on the best caruretor for a 230. Stick woth the Model B, the Monojet, or something else?
