    Hey guys

Has someone any experience using the Carter YF with auto Choke combined with Fenton or Offenhauser dual intake ? Will it give any better engine performance using this 2 instead of one carb? What about petrol econemy ?

I ran a Fenton with 2 singles about 30 years ago. 2 is always better than 1 but you will probably want to upgrade your ignition. Just a coil would be a big improvement and a MSD box is even better. As far as millage go's....Who cares! lol :D

    YES and YES AGAIN !

It will both increase the power greatly and also improve the fuel economy due to more precise metering of the fuel....

Even if you run two Rottenchester leaks-a-lot Series 'B' caries on a Fenton intake , you'll have better power and economy .

Remember though : both carbys *must* be set up and adjusted (jets etc.) exactly the same or it'll run terribly .

    Well Then ;

Use whatcha got there ! or as we say in America : Run Whatcha brung :)

The chokes make no difference at all , they *might* help in extremely cold weather starting .

If it were me , I'd only connect up one choke and leave the other adjusted wide open regardless of temperature .

A good running engine only needs the choke for 30 ~ 60 seconds MAXIMUM , then your right foot or the throttle wire should be sufficient to keep the engine running , too much fuel is always a bad thing as it causes extremely rapid engine wear .

I hope this answeres your question ? .

    if not ask again ! :p .

    Martinius,
For what its worth...I put two Rochesters on my fenton intake. It has a manual choke set-up on them so I used them. The choke cable is on the rear Carb as in a stock single set-up.

It is not cosmetically pleasing at all as the cable looks bunched up on the firewall because the rear carb sits so much further back on the manifold. I think you will be happier with your auto-choke set-up as Nate describes.

Thank you again guys for all the help. Its good to know that the choices one makes is well founded when changing a standard arrangement.
Its allways a cost/benefit question and there is an esteticall side included offcourse to.

    Have a nice day Martinius.

I also can't find a nice place to put my glass bubble type fuel filter. I wanted to show it off and make it easy to see. I have not found a good spot for it. You know how much we pay for these and to not use it really bothers me. It looks great on my single carb set-up in the 47'. But the dual carb setup precludes using the same spot. Any idea's.

Couldn't you put one on each carby on a 45 degree angle and hook up the fuel lines to them that way?

    Glass Bowl Fuel Filters

What Ken said ~ if you peruse pictures of various dual carby setups , you'll see how they manag it with angled fittings .

You can use the dual feed pipes from 4 BBL Carter carbys on dual single carby setups to make tem look nice .
