I have an 89 1/2 ton Suburban that is set up pretty good for off-road and towing but am interested in upgrading my axels. I have access to a 78 1 ton suburban and was wondering if this is a doable project. I have been told that this 1 ton has Dana 60 axels, is this true? Any idea what the pros and cons of this type of swap would be?

You can swap the whole axle assembly out of the 1 ton.I am not sure that it will be a direct swap but all the parts you would have to change would be able anywhere. The 1 ton has full floating axles, beefer case and axle tubs, and heavy duty brakes. You will have to change wheels.
