here is my Problem. I bought a rebuilt from classic (235) 55 ,,,,the book said 99.95..Then when I ordered it jumped to 128.00, then it jumnped to 134.95, the book said 40$ core charge..Then it jumped to 75$,I also was not allowed my 5% discount.I but all my parts from classic, but I am thinking I will return the rebuilt,My carb is origanal, and when the rebuilt came,it looks nothing like the origanal,it looks like something you would get from Wal=Mart, and it seems I was involved with bait and switch, now i have to pay for shipping to return it. Has anyone else bought a rebuilt carb from Classic? And were you satisfied? M/Gaff
I'm sorry for the confusion on the Carbs. I'm not sure how current your catalog is but our cost has gone up on that carburetor. We actually haven't been able to get them from our supplier for months and we had to locate another source for them. We actually got the last 48 of them from a "New" supplier. Unfortunately they were more expensive from the new supplier so we had to raise the price. There shouldn't be any reason that you shouldn't have gotten the 5% discount that was offered to you. If you can give me your customer information I will make sure this gets credited back to you.
Thanks Robert, You guys do a great job, the parts i recieve are always great. I think i will try to rebuild my origanal Carb. Could i get a RMA for the return of the carb, you could send it to my E-mail Thanks again. gafcob2002@aol.com
Your Return Merchandise Authorization # is 56817. Put this on the outside of the box when you send it back so that we can identify it as a return. Thanks,
Hi Robert, Since I also recently purchased a rebuilt rochester carb from CD, maybe its appropriate to list my experience as well. I currently have the carb on my truck and it runs fine, just the "normal" very slight seepage about the horn. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be anyway to attach the choke cable so the choke lever will move in the necessary direction. Please see my post titled "Rochester Carb" in the 47-54 section for a description/picture. I called the number for tech support from the rebuilder (Champion) during the weekend, and then called again on Monday "during business hours." Even then I got a answering machine so I described my problem and left my return number. I have never been called back. I "jerry-rigged" a temporary solution by drilling a small hole in the ear and bending the end of the choke cable 90 degrees so I could attach it through the hole. This works somewhat, but not as good as it should and I don't expect the cable to last long before breaking at the bend. I thought that I might be able to switch parts off my existing carb to get the proper "ear" to attach the choke cable on the rebuilt carb. However, the choke "butterfly" flap won't come out of the rebuilt carb due to the adapter plate they put on top (I found out the bronze screws are very soft while attempting to do this!) and the adapter plate won't come off due to the steel pins pressed into a dead end hole holding the plate on (and the steel pins are harded than my drill bits!). I've since moved on to the middle of a transmission swap so I'm not currently doing anything about the carb. At some point in the future I may cut the "ear" off my existing carb and weld it onto the rebuilt carb to give me an attachment point, or simply replace it with a used carter carb I bought recently. In any event, I'm not asking CD to do anything, just letting you know of issues I'm having with the carbs from your new supplier. Thanks Dave
Dave, That is what I saw when I looked at the origanal and after market i recieved, now i understand that some things are just not going to do what I want But I decided to send mine back,But I want to let the guys and gals at Classic know that i am very happy with everthing they have sent me, I am not going to shop anywere else,I am just taking a break from my project as I was getting to far ahead of myself. I did find a carb at my flea market for 10$..what a steal..i am going to buy 2 rebuild kits and sit down in my shop with my Manual and rebuild them this winter, but Like i said I am real happy with Classic,my parts are delivered fast and all have been great. gaff
