Clips for windshield Trim

Greetings,

I have an opportunity to purchase the stainless steel window trim for the front windshield of my 54 Chevy 3100. The only problem is that the clips that hold the trim pieces together are missing. Are there clips from later model trucks that are readily available and could be used in place of the missing clips?

I'm sure you could find _something_ to suit , I'd really not want to pay anywhere near full price for the trim tho' as you might get stuck with an unusable trim for many years before finding the clips or a good substitute...

'54 windshield trims are rather hard to find so consider carefully before walking away from this deal ~ I'd do it if I had a '54 .

I bet late 40's & early 50's Buick trim clips would work , maybe a little bending...

I was given this description of the trim:

"it is of good driver quality it has a few minor dings all of which could be repaired and needs a good polishing they could be made into show quality I want $100.00 including shipping & insurance with delivery confirmation"

A picture was sent with the email but it is a little hard to tell how many dings are in the trim. Overall I would say the description is correct, maybe just a little optimistic.

Would you say that this is a good price for the trim minus the clips?

I don't mind a few dings , all of my stainless steel trims have been purchased " On The Cheap " due to dings & scratches , most of the haze & scratches will easily polish out by hand .

The fact that this price includes freight and insurance , confirmation etc. makes me say GO for it .

This _is_not_ ' cheap ' ~ cheap would be like $35.00 .

BTW : make _SURE_ he knows to tape the trims to a bit of wood paneling or other stiff backing else they're sure to get ruined (bent) .
