Clutch Fork

I'm thinking that I have the wrong clutch fork in my 59. The one I have looks like the one our host lists for 60-72, but I can't find a picture of the fork for a 59 and I can't find anyone that sells them. My linkage is terrible. It rubs and hangs up, even with a giant spring on it that makes it take all my 50 year old leg has to hold it down at a stoplight.

Here's a picture of what the fork I have looks like.

Anyone know if this is the correct fork for my 59 and if it isn't where can I get the right one?

I don't have the answer to your question, but you'd be more likely to get an answer if you specified six or V8.

More fork info

My truck is currently equiped with a v-8, per the casting number it's a 327, probably from a car. Definatly not original. The transmission is a truck 4 speed with the really low granny gear good for only climbing up the sides of buildings or pulling stumps.

The clutch linkage is cobbed together and I'm sure it is not correct. I was thinking about ordering the clutch linkage offset rod and the clutch linkage rod to try and fix it correctly, but I'm not sure if I have the right fork to use those two parts correctly.

I would order a new fork but I can't seem to find anyone that sells one for a 59 application. Maybe they are the same as the 60-72, but I can't figure it out fromt he info I have. I looked in the service manual on the Old car manual project web site, but it didn't have a good illustration.

Wouldn't the clutch forks be the same for a 3 or 4 speed?

Stan I Have one with a 3 speed & a 59 thats got Problly the same Stump puller 4 speed as Yours , but They are Both 6 Cylinders , I,m Not Sure if that would Make a Difference or not , I crawl under them after bit & see what I can see , I Might even have a Spare laying around . I,ll see What I can find out , in Case You can,t find anything else. Bob

The search continues

I dug out my 55-59 Factory Assembly Manual and found the illustrations that I have attached here. If I'm looking at them correctly it looks like the clutch fork for these trucks should have some sort of off-set which the one that I currently have installed does not have. Also they look like they have more of a single eyelet type bolt hole for the offset rod to bolt into, whereas the one I have has two holes of which neither one is very good for the offset rod to bolt into.

That sort of explains to me why my linkage was cobbled together by the previous owner. Right now I am not using the smaller link rod at all, instead my offset rod is turned around and goes directly from the lever attached to the pedal assembly to the clutch fork. It makes for difficult adjustment and terrible movement.

I'm a school teacher and when school gets out in two weeks I'm going to replace the tired old 327 with something new, and I want to fix this clutch thing at the same time, but I can't find the correct fork. Any ideas?
