I have 4x4 donor truck. It is an 1980 1/2 ton short bed. I want to put the 4x4 running gear under my 2wd to make it 4wd. Are the frames the same.

    the frames are different.

why dont you put the cab on the new frame?

the spot where the front leaf spring rear hanger goes is where the 2wd ebrake cable passes through, you will have to move it.

the bracket for the front of the front leaf spring will all bolt in place of the 2wd body mount.

the rear leaf stuff is all the same.

depending on what tranny you want to use, what adapter it has and what crossmember you want to use you will have to do some parts swappin.

you floor pan will not clear the 203/205 and you will need AT LEAST 1-2" body lift or cut and section the pan.

you will also need the motor crossmember from the 4wd as well.

It will be much easier to swap the cab and bed onto the 4wd frame. While it is apart clean it up and paint it install the motor ect.

The rear spring hangers are taller on a 4x4 than a 4x2, except 77 K30/K3500. If you don't swap the rear spring hangers or install a rear lift kit in lieu of them, it will look like a low rider in the rear.
