I am working on a 57 original v8 truck. Firewall clearance was pretty tight so I moved the motor forward about an inch or so during my engine swap using tu ular crossmember. Now, there are clearance issues between my aluminum radiator and the wp pulley.

since my truck is a v8 truck, there is a support bar that runs parallel to the support bar on the core support, about 4 or 5 inches apart. Can I just swap locations between the support bar and the core support or just flip the core support so that the rad is on the bumper side instead of the engine side.

    pulley clearance

I installed a 350 with HEI ignition and had no clearance problems, my truck is a '58, don't know if there is any difference in the radiator support area.
My engine has the short water pump and pulleys that go with it, maybe this is the difference in clearance you need.
Chevy did make a short and long water pump, you might have the long pump. Hope this is of some help for you.

Thanks for the reply Gerald, yes I am sorry that I forgot that part but I am using a short water pump and associated pulleys but it still too close and no way I could fit an hei cap in ther and that is after moving motor forward 1 inch. I will take some pictures when I mock it up.

The factory six cylinder trucks had the support further forward, longer engine. The support's are the same lower brackets will need to be moved forward. Six cylinder support was shimmed so radiator sat higher

Figured as much. My frame has a second set of holes that moves the rad support towards the bumper about five inches. I will test fit that and check my clearances again.
