corvette drivetrain

    i was wondering if any one has read or know anybody who put a c4corvette drivetrain in a 1947-1954 truck like t he frontand rear suspension engine tranny etc and can help me out with web sites and anything else to do that cuz im buying a 1948 chevy 3100 and want to put a corvette drivetrain under it with a new truck frame

    ,,,That'll be a fast truck ! .

    PLEASE save all the rusty dented greasy stock bits as folks need 'em for restoration and old work trucks .

    Putting where you're located in your IDS will net you more responses too .

    We have several Hot Rodders here who will soon chime in with the info you need .

    I think the magazine "Classic Trucks" had an article and photos on this. You might try contacting them and see if they have a way for you to get a past issue or search their archives. We put a Vette IFS and IRS onto a 57 Chevy car frame and it worked really well. One thing I was a bit leery of was you have to radically arch the bottom of the frame where the steering rods pass beneath it, leaving only about 1" of vertical wall. The core support with all the weight it carries and the front bumper are mounted in front of this whittled out area. We used full 1/4" plate in this area but sometimes metal thickness is not a good substitute for cross section size. Since your getting a new frame maybe the builder could redesign this area of the frame.
