Custom Gas Tank

    Sourcing for custom alum. or stainless under bed tank for 59 shortbed fleetside that is larger than the 17-18 gal variety from Brothers and CPP.
    Any thoughts/expereince?

    You have to figure out how much area you have to work with. Keep in mind 7 gallons per cu. ft. example 12x12x12 divided by 244= 7.08196721 You have only got so much area to work with before you have to modify the frame other wise you either end up with too much gas tank hanging down under the truck or a gas tank that's in the bed. Here's some pix of what I did to my "54" I used to work for a tanker trailer Mfg. (Beall Trailers of Ca.) I recommend a Fab. shop that has tank experience because Alum. and SS is an art and you want someone that is familiar with the 2. Good luck and make sure that who ever builds your tank installs some kind of baffeling system that helps cut down fuel slosh and a vent so you don't build pressure or create a vacuum. tims pics 029.jpg
    As you can see by my pix the gas tank will both fit under the floor of the bed and it doesn't hang down undernieth and create an eyesore. This gas tank was just over 2.5 cubic feet or just shy of 19 gallons.
