i want to paint dash but cant remove the choke and throttle knobs. what is the trick ? or do i just sand around them and mask to paint?
Knobs Unhook your battery cables and remove the nuts holding the cables under the dash. Use a 9/16 wrench. Also unhook at the carb. Gene
problem!?! the cables move with the nut. have tried hold cables with pliers but they just twist. sprayed nut with PB Blaster same thing. another suggestion ?
Let 'em soak a few days & loosen up or just chop 'em off and buy new cables , they're cheap . have the new ones on hand before destroying the originals ! .
thanx . with a different engine i was not going to reuse the throttle but the choke may eventually be hooked back up. not enough room under dash to get mad and start throwing tools but i could use colorful language !!!!!! BTW do use hold the knob or shaft when loosening the back nut ?
put tape around the bezel on the dash so you don't scratch the paint, then grip it with a pair ov vise grips or adjustable long handle pliers. I find that the properly placed colorful language tends to scare the parts into submission.
