I have been trying for several weeks off and on to get my deluxe heater controls out in order to replace one of the control levers.

I took out the two screws on the face and the two screws in back toward the top. I have also been able to remove some of the cables attached to the levers.

Am I missing the easy way to get the controls out? What is the best way to go about doing this?

You have to drive the pin out.

I still haven't been able to get the controls out of the dash. Will the pin help me with this.

    where is the pin located?

Sorry - I missunderstood the question. There are 2 screws at the top on the inside of the chrome face. You need to get at it from behind the dash.

It would probably help me to read your entire post. As I recall, getting mine out involved quite a bit of cussing. I went out to the garage and stuck mine back into the dash. The screws at the top must be removed all the way. You need to push the unit down the out at the bottom then out at the top. keep rocking it and eventually it will come out.

    Hey,

You just take the 2 bottom screws out and the top 2 long screws (back side top pain in the ass) in the chrome piece first and push it on the back side and it will come out.You have to take the cables off first before it will come out.If your water shut off switch in your heater box is bad i would by pass it.I put in an after market one and started leaking after 50 miles.I ran a shut off switch in the heater hose i got from the parts store. P.S It my be paint stuck too you might have to push a little harder then normal.
