I'm no '50 Chevy truck expert, but I don't remember a 2 speed rear axle as an option on a 1/2 ton.

    Read The Document

That's a nice link , I've not been there in some time .

If you read the document , it clearly states two speed rear axles are for 5000 & 6000 series trucks .

I'da just said there weren't any two speeds on 1/2 tonners but you don't know me to trust me , I'm just an old farm mechanic .

So , you need to figure out what rear end you have as the 1947 ~ 1953 AD's all came with an _enclosed_ driveshaft , this was called a ' Torque Tube ' and never , ever had two speeds in it .

If you post up ictures of what you've got , some here can identify it on sight and maybe help you find what you need .

I think he's wanting the spider gears--the two of them, not a 2 speed. If he wasn't so far away he could bring some wrenches and tear into some that are in my scrap pile. If the facing on the teeth is good I think they have bronze bushings where the shaft goes through (Nate will know), and these could be replaced. A problem may be that mating even new gears up to a used axle gear might not be real quiet.

No bushings in the ones I've had in my hands .

There's actually _four_ spider gears and I would change them as a set .

    Easy to pop out .

Stovebolters , indeed i need a cople of NOS spidergears. The old ones i have came out from an original 1950 rear axle. The spidergears have 10 teeth and i dont think any bushings in my set, The others are the sidegears , bigger and with splines. .

Anyone who can help me out here?

    Martinius.

    Spesifications model 3100.

    Sourcing Torque Tube Spider gears

    Martinus :

This one should be very simple ~ look over the posts and figure out who has a 1947 ~ 1953 1/2 ton (3100 series) pickup and is making a hot rod , they'll be willing to sell the whole Torque Tube for peanuts as they're indestuctable and worthless , offer that person the $35.00 they want for the whole thing , just for the four spider gears (I cannot stress enough how important it is to use them in sets) and maybe the brake drums too as they're hard to find but easy to remove .

Get the center block , pin , 'C' clips and funny flat headed screw that holds the pin & block into place ~

If I had a junk Torque Tube I'd send the parts to you for the freight but I do not sad to say , sold it after all these years .
