ok, just a quick question. i've got some fairly large dings and dents in my valve cover, which- before you guys rant about it- i don't really mind. i just thought i'd ask, if i were to bang those dents out with the hammer and dolly, what are the chances that the cover won't seat with the gasket? or is that just a matter of a few more swings of the hammer? i just thought, since i've got it off and all cleaned up, i may want to fix the dings, but if it's gonna cause problems, i can definately live with it. thanks!! jon
Jon, I'd think if the dings were in the top, it wouldn't matter atall. The only thing that matters is the lip or edge that contacts the gasket. If that's bent up, you may have problems. I'm not sure about where you live, but around here, finding old, dusty, smooooth covers is probably one of the simpler tasks.
that's a good point! i hadn't thought of just replacing it. i'll start looking i guess. but the dings are on top, so no biggie, huh? jon
