Hello All,
I have a simple question, it is regarding upgrading to front disc brakes. Which way is the caliper mounted? is it before the axle or aft the axle? I was told it mounted before the axle, but when mounted before the axle, it does not look right to me, but when mounted aft the axle, the bracket hits the king pin locking bolt. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine (originally manufactured by Buffalo Enterprises) mount to the rear of the axle centerline. No matter where they mount, the bleed fitting on the caliper MUST be at the high point else you can't bleed the brakes.

Which disc brake kit are you using? On my 50, the calipers mount behind the rear axle, and yes, they hit the king pin bolt even though they are made to go that way!? I originally used the ChevyDuty brackets, and the caliper mounted in front of the axle. I now am using the C.P.P brackets. I guess it doesn't matter as long as you have clearances, and the bleeder is up. If I remember correctly, with the calipers in front, the bleeders were upside down, and the hose came off wrong. It's been a while though. Hope this helps...Mike
 
I'm don't remember who I bought the brackets from, its either Chevy Duty or C.P.P. With the calipers in front, the bleeder is down and the brake line is straight up. And yes, the information is most helpful!!! Thanks. :)
