Have 600 miles on a complete restoration on a '58 Cameo truck. I can't seem to be able to adjust the doors to keep out air intrusion, even though new door seals were used. If anyone has been able to correct this problem, I would really like to hear from you.
I put new seal on mine and it would not seal. It just took a lot of adjusting. I loosened all the bolts and closed the door. moved it into place and had someone hold it while I tightened them. Be carefull when doing this if you have nice paint.
Thanks for the info. I've tried that and had some success however, I have to push in on the top of the doors in order to get a seal at that point. On the subject of seals and unwanted air intrusion coming into the cab; I'm trying to find out where that air, other then from the doors, is coming from. The side vents have new "seals" and don't appear to be leaking. All holes in the original firewall have been covered with formed panels welded on the outside. I find it difficult to be feeling around while driving, especially on the pass. side and haven't had the chance to have anyone with me yet. The truck has 600 miles and I realize some of these issues will take time to fix. Any comments will be welcomed.
did you use new door hinges. Not sayin that is the issue but I have noticed a lot of the new stuff I buy fitts a little weird. I think new stuff may be built to close to spec. But could be oter stuff as well. If I think of anything new Ill let you know. Good luck with it.
Cameo 58 I have Heard That some Of the After market Seals Do Not Fit as good as The originals, Its been said they are a little Thicker and you also have to Slam the door almost to get it Shut,Again Just from what I Have Heard and Talked to Sevral Other Owners! May I Ask Since you Have a Cameo! Did you have your Tailgate Latchs Re-Chromed? and who Did the Work If you Did? Mine Need to Be redone and See That the handles Look Like they do Not Come appart,Just wondering How you Takled this Issue With Them? Thanks Allen
