Can anybody tell me or, better yet, show me hos the weatherstripping lays in the door perimeter of a 47? I removed the old years ago and I don't kow which way to lay this in. I can guess but I have to glue it and I would rather be sure. A close up photo would be great. Thanks, Bill
Hey Bill, your truck is looking awesome from the pics on your other post! You might want to look at the shop manual. They have some info in it relating to weatherstriping. If you don't have a copy, you can go to www.chevy.tocmp.com and look in there.
Thanks, Ken. I remembered an old gentleman in the community that I used to get parts from 3 or 4 years ago. I went by his place and leaves were piled up at the gate. I checked around and found that he had passed on. I talked to his daughter and she agreed to let me look at the old trucks to see how the weatherstripping fit. I asked what she planned to do with her dad's old trucks and she said it would be next spring before she would do anything and that several people were already on the list to get them I asked her to add me to the list and let me know if she made it that far. Here is one of the old trucks. It has been in this barn for many, many years. It is good to know that there are still some out there waiting for one of us round fender renovators.
I'm in the process of trying to save a 54 early body from rotting to the ground. It's all original and believe it or not a driver. No glass in it right now but will run and drive. A friend of mine at work asked me if I might be interested in it for the low low price of "FREE". Can you believe that. He's trying to get ahold of his uncle to find out if it's okay or not, but if he does then my daily driver now will be for sale and the 54 will take its place. That way I can drive an original everyday and build on my street rod 48. How cool would that be??? (and no you guys aren't rubbing off on the original part, just no time and money to street rod them both)
Kevin, '54's suck. They are ugly and you shouldn't even think about it. Because i like you so much, i'll come get it and hide it somewhere in Texas (in my garage) so you won't be tempted. It's the least i can do for you.
You know Ken you're a heck of a guy for doing that for me. I really do appreciate it . Even if he doesn't give it to me I may still try to buy it cheap. You never know.
