No... I'm not talking about what happens as you get older- I was wondering if anyone out there knows who makes the 3" dropped front axle for these rigs. Also, what kinda' stuff do you have to do with linkage to get everything to work. I've looked in CP and Brothers, but can't find it. I KNOW I've seen one somewhere! Thanks for the help!

    drop axle

Zig, the one you have seen is made by Cen Pen. They have a website. http://www.cenpen.com/chevyaxle.htm
You can also buy them at Classic Performance Products. www.classicperform.com
I would suggest talking to either parts dept to find out more info. I remember reading one guys post that you needed to buy their king pins to fit it, and they didn't mention that anywhere. Seems to me that they told me the stock king pins would work. It's been a while. One issue you may run into is bump steer. I know they say if you use lowered springs, and axle, the drag link angle is bad and you get major bump steer. There are ways to fix that though. Hope that helps some. I have been looking at getting one for my truck. Just need to find the $$.....Mike

Thanks for the info Mike! I knew I'd seen them somewhere. (It was CPP) Ifin' you find that money tree, let me know also, okay? I got juice put in my compressor on my Blazer. The low pressure switch needs to be replaced. The short that keeps blowning the gagues became big enough that I had to jump it to get it back home. Did that, started driving it back and watched in amazement as my dash lights slowly faded to nothing within a 5 block stretch. Got t o the stop light- it died. Hopped out and pushed it around the corner of the street, (Felt the awesome power of some spirit push the thing with me! - honestly, that's not a light rig, but as I was thinkin' about all those pissed off people behind me, it felt as if someone had hopped out and came to my aid. But I didn't see anyone when I finally got it stopped.) 7 years ago last night, my brother (and best friend) passed away with a heart attack in his sleep... Only 43 at the time. I'm thinkin' maybe he's still watching over me. Anyway, I guess I have more money to spend on something OTHER than my old truck AGAIN!!! I'm under the impression that once the engine is going, the alternator should keep things charged, not let things just fall of like they did. I have never seen power fade like that before! Hope it's something simple...:(

    alternator

Zig, you are correct that a lot of the time a car will run on the alternator power alone. It does depend on a lot of things though. Running on it, and driving on it are a bit different. It is not uncommon for us to see a totally dead battery make it so the car will not stay running, once jumped. It is simply that the dead battery draws down the voltage so much that it kills the car. Have seen many limp along fine, until you hit the brakes, and draw just a tad too much power.......and kaput. Good luck with it....Mike

Hey Zig if you get into a bind with that low pressure switch and need the compressor to work then put a jumper wire in the connector and it will keep the compressor on. Now in doing this the compressor will not shut off and eventually freeze up your evaporator, so don't run it like this for hours on end. Just a little trick that I had to do a few times. Plus this is how I check for bad pressure switches. Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, I know you miss him!
