Getting ready to add or fix the e brakes on my truck. The rearend was replaced long ago with a Chevy II. I have speaker panels that would interfere with the stock unit so I was going to swap it out for a floor or trans mounted setup. Question is what cables should I use? I know that Lokar sells a universal kit that's supposed to work but just curious to know if the stock cables attach to the Chevy II without a problem.

Lokar has a swing pedal that is pretty nice and easy to install. Use their cable set up, it fits most anything except Explorer/ town car rears, and they have adapters for that.

Ok, I've been scouring the internet and decided to go with the Lokar hand brake & cables. Install looks clean and uncomplicated. Spoke with a rep from Lokar & he recommended part #EC-80FU & EHB-7000F. Will order this set & post the install.

    Check out this one.....

I installed one on the 50 I built, worked well, easy install, easy adjustment, kinda looks like stock. I have the trans mount e brake, and I have to pull the snot out of it to get it to work, even then it isn't where I want it. Hard to adjust. I haven't messed with the floor mount models.

That's a great looking setup, but I have a speaker panel that would be in the way. That's why I took out the original pedal. I've talked to a few others who have used the floor mount unit and they love it.

Started the install tonight. Stopped off at the local autoparts store to pickep some brake shoes. Thought I'd replace them while I was at it and boy am I glad I did. The drivers side hub was frozen. When I finally got it off the shoes were all but obliterated. On the other side the pad was covered with a tar like substance that I couldn't figure out what it was at first but then realized that it was grease from the seal. Looks like I've got alot more work to do.

    another upgrade

Well, since I'm at it I decided to upgrade to rear disc brakes. Found out from a fellow Bolter that the rear disc from the 98-02 LS1 Camaros bolt on the the 10 bolt rear end. Found a complete set on ebay, made an offer of $130 (he was asking $160) and he accepted. Look forward to getting them on.
