GOOD DAY TO YOU ALL, 66 CHEVY, 350SB, MY QUESTION TODAY IS, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT ELECTRIC COOLING FAN I SHOULD USE ON MY TRUCK. IM RUNNING JUST UNDER 400HP. IM NOT SURE HOW MANY CFM OF PULLING POWER IM GOING TO NEED AND I WOULD LIKE TO USE A FAN WITH A THERMOSTAT SO ITS NOT RUNNING ALL THE TIME. IM RUNNING THE STOCK RADIATOR WHICH I BELIEVE IS ABOUT 17" TALL BY 25" WIDE.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP, IM SURE DVALINTINE CAN HELP ;-)
    HOW ARE YOU DOING DENNIS?

Hay Jeff ! How ya doin ?

Do you " WANT " an electric fan ? Or do you think you "NEED" one because of the 400 HP ?

With a 3 core radiator, which is what you should have already, a good water pump, and a fan shroud, that should be enough to cool that short block. IF you see some "parade speed" cruising in your future, then you may want to go with a thermostaticly controlled Rectric Fan.

There are a lot of manufactures out there but one of the most popular with the street rodders is made by Spal. Look at their 16 inch, single fan that will move, at a minimum, 1,300 CFM. You will need to decide on a pusher or puller configutation, but with all the room in front of the motor, a puller would be a good choice. That will leave the front of the radiator open for trans cooler and/or AC evaporator.
Check out the Spal 16" Hurricane that moves a wopping 2700 cfn and can be configured as a puller or pusher by switching the fan blades around. Spal also has three thermostat wiring harnesses, one is a manual adjustment and the other two are done by engine temps of 185 or 195 degrees. ( you want 185 ).

Hope all is well with you Pard.

THANKS DENNIS. IM JUST LOOKING INTO ELECTRIC FANS AT THIS TIME, IVE ALWAYS GONE WITH MOTOR DRIVEN FANS AND THOUGHT I MIGHT CHANGE IT UP A BIT. SOMETHING NEW TO PLAY WITH. THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. I WILL BE SEEING ALOT OF PARADE SPEEDS. IM BUILDING FOR MOSTLY CRUISE, BUT WITH "POWER WHEN NEEDED". ILL CHECK OUT THE SPAL FAN, I AGREE I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GO WITH THERMOSTATICLY CONTROLED FAN. WHAT DO MEAN BY FAN SHROUD? SHOULD I USE THE SHROUD THATS USED FOR THE MOTOR DRIVEN FAN OR IS THERE A SHROUD SPECIFICALLY FOR THE ELECTRIC FAN?
    THANKS AGAIN DENNIS.
HOPE ALL IS WELL FOR YOU TOO.

When I mentioned a shroud that was for the non-rectric motor driven fan.

The paint job is "still" turning out !! It got the final primer last week and is being blocked out as we speak. Color & clear coat this week or next, then a week or so of blocking and rubbing out.

I got tired of waiting for a ride, so I bought a hooptie to go to the shows in. It got a nod at the Goodguys fall Get Together in Pleasenton this weekend.
