Engine ID number

    Hello,
    What kind of engine I have? The engine ID Number is CON 3 A194. This is what I found on the block.

    wolfgang, sorry but those numbers won't help you to identify the engine. What you need to find is the casting number on the block. It will be a 7 digit number and should start with 38 or possibly 36. It should be located on the passenger side between the dist. and fuel pump. Give us that number and we'll tell you what it is.

    I am not an expert in this, but if the casting date codes on Chevy truck engines are the same as those on GMC trucks I'll bet the "A194" is January 19, 1954.

    And the number Wolf posted is the raised casting number .

    What we need is the number stamped into the machined flat surface on the right rear side of the cylinder block near the distributor .

    In any case , it's allready been clearly shown he has a '55 or newer 235......
