Where can I look, or who knows how to identify the engine on the basis of its serial number?

I have a 69 Chev K20 with small block V8 with sn V0214TXB. I don't believe it's the original due to the visible "creative" wiring.

The block casting numbers are located on the bellhousing flange drivers' side. You usually need to clean the sludge & grime off with a rag, then using a mirror and flashlight helps a bunch.

When you get those numbers, go over to Mortec at http://www.mortec.com/ and a quick look up will tell you "what that motor is from.

OK Thanks. The number I posted was on the front passenger side of the engine block.

Hi, the number on the front will tell you what vehicle it was installed in. If there are three letters on the end, like yours has it is 1970 or newer. If it has two letters at the end it is 1969 or older. If you get rid of the "T" on your number, that would make your engine a '1969' 350,4BC(Med Duty) in a C10, C20, C30, P20, P30.

I'm pretty sure the T is there. The carb is 2bbl, and it looks like the engine is not the stock one based on the ppoor wiring job.
