I got a 290h.p./350 Crate. I have everything new on it with the exception of an alternator which works just fine. I have an Rpm Air Gap manifold with a 600cfm performer carb, a stock HEI Gm distributor with a Hypertech cap, coil, and rotor, with Accel superstock wires. My problem is a miss, noticeable at idle. I'm some what of a perfectionist and this is just killing me. The distributor, on the inside seems loose to me, but that's the only other thing I can think it might be. Possibly the ignition shorting out or jumping spark in the cap. I could see black marks on the underside of the rotor, possibly pointing to that. I have it timed and everything, I just can't get rid of this damn miss, and it's driving me nuts. Any help, and I mean any would be great. I'm thinking of popping the valve covers to check the valve adjustment, but I'll wait to hear back from somebody first. Thanks, Casey
First thing I would do is check plugs!! cheap and it is hard to tell if you are just getting a weak spark from one of them... does it only do it at an idle or also when you start to accelerate?
