    I'm new to these straight six engines and I'm trying to figure out what I have here this is the number that was next to the dipstick tube #652656 but I'm having trouble looking it up it should be a stock 1952 GMC engine.

    Look to the left of the distributor. First three digits are the displacement. This one is a 270.

    So ;

    Post up a few pix of the engine proper and the goold people here will figure it out for you .

    Is it a Canadian made GMC ? .(door pillar tag)

    If so , it'll have a Chevrolet engine in it from new .

    So I found the casting number this morning next to the fuel pump and also the date code that shows it to be a Jan 25 1953 motor and the casting number shows a Chevy 216 so its the wrong motor. How hard is it to find a GMC 228 that should have been in here?
