I bought a 51 truck this winter and have been working on so havn't really run it. It has a 235 engine it with a 378307 casting number in front of the dist. If I follow this correct, this tells me the engine was built between 1958 and 62. My question is how can I tell whether this a high pressure oiler or a splash oiler. My reading suggest that there was a change with the oil pressure system mid life of the 235. Any way to confirm short of running it and looking a the oil pressure? Thanks in advance, D Orcutt

Sounds like a full pressure to me. 53 was the last of the oil splashers

If there are 4 screws holding the rocker box to the cylinder head , it's a full pressure engine no matter how little pressure the gauge registers .
