Engine swap

Does anyone have any experience or advice on swapping out a 4.3 for a 5.0 or a 5.7? My '95 is a regular cab, short wheel base, with a standard transmission. Thanks.

Haven't done that yet but make sure you get the computer that went with the v-8. It'll make for an easier swap. Tranny should bolt up to the v-8. Don't know if it is the same motor mounts though.

I've done 4.3 to 6.2 (same mounts as a SBC) on my '85. 4.3 engine mounts are farther back than the SBC, so you may need to grab engine mount brackets (if the '88 - '98 have them, i haven't really looked at them). I bought a parts truck to do my swap, which made it a lot easier to get all the small parts, wire harnesses, etc... it's also is a great reference when you get around to putting it all into your truck.
