engine swap

    when going from 6cyl to 8cyl what about the cross member that holds emergency brake cable does this need to be removed for auto trans or does it stay where it is thanks, JOHN

    It needs to go. BUT ! save it ! The best conversion I've seen is taking that e-brake BRACE ( it can't be called a crossmember, too flimsey), and welding/bolting it onto the bottom of the new automatic trans crossmember. Once in, all that needs to be done is adjustment of the existing cables.

    Thats A Good Idea, Ill Have To Dig Mine Out Of The Metal Bin And Do That, Thanks For The Idea Dennis. You Dont Have A Pic Of One Thats Been Done Like That Do You? If You Do, Id Love To See It.

    Thats Ok, Ill Pull Out The Old Member And I Think I Can Fab It Up To Do What Your Talking About. Right Now The Brake Cables Are Just Hanging Under The Auto Crossmember And I Think With Enough Time Something Will Probably Wear Thru. Thanks For The Idea Thou.

    CPP makes a crossmember with that on it. It is one of the ordering options.
