I currently have a 1956 Gmc pickup and right now from the previous owner he installed a glass pack on it. I want to tone the sound a little bit by changing the muffler. I have a 270 straight 6 engine right now. I want dual exhast but i only have a single header. Can I put dual exhaust with a single header and just "Y" split the exhaust? How will it sound? Will it work? ANy suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bizz

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-05 AT 06:18 PM (CST)]yes, you can dual out on a straight 6, but make sure that you do not go to big in diameter on the ppipes because you still need back pressure for the engine to run well, personally i hate glasspacks and cherry bombs. i sugjest that you get flowmasters, they will make a butiful noise. i also say that you should go no bigger than 2" on your pipes, anything bigger will cause yourhead to start suckng(very, very bad)...goodluck
