Just put one of these puppies in my 54 this last week, finished it up today! Its nice to know where all the wires go and having each one labeled every 6 inches on the wire. Tested for any load on system before hooking up the ground cable, brake pedal just a little down, adjusted that and walla, she works! Now its on to new seals on the Pacer rack and pinion power steering unit then to the muffler shop for complete exhaust system. Nice to know there are other people out there with the same kind of disease that I have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good deal! What kind of loom does it come with? Did you go 12 volt with turn signals, etc. Talk to us, i for one, am very curious about it. I've got the original wiring harness for mine but still have nightmares about it. Cracked insulation, broken wires inside what appears to be good insulation etc.

My 49 3100 was running with the stock wiring but the battery continually drained and there was so much exposed wire due to cracked and missing outer wire covering/insulation that I carried a fire extinguisher with me (probably should anyway).

I bought a replacement harness from either Classic Parts or J.C. and it was a very simple instillation (except hooking things up under the dash, I just don't bend the way I did when I was younger). It included wiring for tail lights, turn signal, etc. The "instructions" seemed pretty skimpy at first, but everything worked, no major snags in the instillation.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, one less thing to worry about in a daily driver. The wiring should work for either 6 or 12 volt systems.

I put one in from Br-----'s. I'm sure it's similar to CP's. It was so simple, even I could do it! -Except for that bending thing- that was NO FUN! Now that I did that, I hope it will work with a V-8, but I think I'll need to go the fuse block way...:( If I need a new harness, I would go with the "labeled every 6 inch type! That's just too user friendly!

When you guys run the every six inch kind.....where are you mounting the fuse block?

I bought one of the generic EZ kits, but I am not quite far enough along in my build to wire everything up yet.

I got to the point where things just don't bend at all without tears coming to my eyes so for the old AD's I made a 3/4" plywood platform to fit on top the seat riser and a floorboard high bench outside the cab for my legs to be on when my butts on floorboard. With that in place and a furniture mover pad one can stretch out and eliminate some kinks. It only takes a minute to pop out the seat so for a wire replacement job it's worth it. If only very distant sensitive vision could be so easily remedied. Maybe it's weird but wiring is one of my most enjoyable tasks of a redo and the more accessories the better. I never use a premade loom but the job must be done (for me) in the wee hours where there are no interuptions by telephone or visitor.

    EZ wire

First off I got a good deal on the whole sheebang, the guy sold it to me at last years price 180 semolies! The darn thing has just about every add on accessory you could ever want, power seats, windows, electric fuel pump,back-up lights, air conditioning, and so on. I mounted it under the dash far enough up so you cant see it when getting in, but easy enough so you can see and get to the fuses, relay and flasher. We had some cold weather here last week in Oregon so I could not work so I took those couple days and spent some time and got it done! It came with an EZ WIRE instruction book, pretty self explanatory. It comes with GM connectors for steering column and since my column came from an S-10 pick-up it was a snap!! I already had everything pretty much wired up before I bought the harness but only had 2 colors of wires, red and black so I figured that since I had gone this far with everything else, I would do it the right way instead of half-backwards! Some day this may be my main mode of transportation so you got to do it up right! Anyhow my chicken pecking style of typing is making my finger sore so thats all for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
