The first AD truck I ever tackled came back to the shop after 30 years and many many miles. It is a 51 GMC that is mounted on a shortened and narrowed 74 cadillac chassis. The chain steering is as good as the day it was installed and as the man said, that double roller chain is way stronger than the 3/4" steering shaft. The seat is the stock front power seat from the 74 sedan deville as are the power windows. The rear bumper is for a mini truck in the 70's but I can't recall which one. Sure fits nice. The owner installed a new 472 engine after wearing the first one out. On this go around we put the new quad guage instrument cluster and speedo in and were waiting for a headlight ring when pictures were taken. This is one AD that really does drive like a cadillac. Wow ~ back in '73 or so I lived next door to a fireman who plopped a 500 C.I. Caddy engine into his old AD , then of course , having ruined it , he wanted to sell it right away . he wanted the (at that time) exhorbitant price of.... $500.00 ! . He simply could not figger out why I didn't immediately junk my old '51 Dodge B1B with Hydrocouple 3 speed and FlatHead 6 banger for it... Of course no one else wanted it either , too bad really as then gas was only .34 CENTS the gallon and this AD was a real rip-snorter . -Nate
