After new brakes my 51 took to the road for its first test drive. How do you like that farm built bumper.
You bet! Great bumper! You can back into anything with that! ...and a 54 bed... interesting. So how did it do? Did you go very far with it? The good thing is, you're DRIVING it! Congratulations!
Cool, very cool! As they say, "Back up till you hear glass break." With that rear bumper it will be someone else's glass! Gater
I got that bumper beat....this is what came with my truck. My uncle used to pull a trailer full of polo ponies with this thing...
Good Deal ! Looking good there ! . Now , get it good and hot and change all the oils , adjust the valves , set the dwell and timing and be amazed at how much pep an old Babbit Pounder has
Thanks for your comments. It's been fun so far. The numbers say it was built in Canada. the motor was changed to a 235 at some point. The brakes were actually metal on metal. My son and I filled a shop vac with shotgun and .22 shells rat nests and a lariat rope along with about 15 lb. of dirt when we cleaned out the cab. We finally resorted to a leaf blower and the garden hose. I love the sound, smell, and feel of the thing. Biggest thrill of the day was when I got "The wave" from two guys sitting on their porch. Im going to get a sticker for the back that says "It IS fixed up"
Excellent ! Remember that rust never sleeps so chip/scrape/wire brush as much as you can then use Rustoleum r whatever and a brush to cover it all , especially underneath so it doesn't dissolve on you ......
