I'm rebuilding, what I believe is a 1977 350 CID Chevy Small Block, and I need / want a new flywheel. The old flywheel is dished and scored rather bad to the point that it would need one of those spacer / inserts. I have the new 10.4" clutch disk / pressure plate set, but am having trouble finding the correct new flywheel to match up. I went thru NAPA, and orderer one, and it turned out to be one for an eleven inch setup, not the 10.4 inch. There's little specification information available on the NAPA web page to help out. The flywheel needs to be one with 168 teeth, with an O.D. of 14.15 inch. (I think that measurement includes the diameter with the ring gear.) The number NAPA part number I requested (from best info. available) was 506504S. They sent 506504. Does anyone know for if the prior number with the "S" on the end would be the correct number for the 10.4" clutch set? The lady at NAPA wasn't too happy about taking back the flywheel as it was special order, and she was afraid she was going to "Take it in the shorts".. but hey, I didn't even get the part number I ordered! I've looked on a few other Auto parts sites, but haven't found anything decisive. Any help much appreciated! P.S. - The engine was in a 1964 Chevy pickup that I'm restoring, so I don't know what car / truck it was originally in.
not really sure but, try running the numbers on the motor and the tranny and see if that helps. sorry couldn't be more help...good luck.
The larger 168 teeth that for the bigger starter. The other would be smaller 152 teeth that the smaller one.
I believe it would be easier to run the 11" flywheel/ clutch setup. Look at it this way, the 11" is more common.
