Have a question on the heater control valve for the fresh air heater in my '49. There's a thin tube coming out of it with a piece on the end that looks like it attaches to a screw or something. Just wondering where this is supposed to attach. Also, does the heater hose from the block or the water pump go to this valve and then to the heater, or does it matter? Thanks

This is where the acessories booklet comes in as it has super clear pictures .

The tube is the temp sensing and it gets _gently_ inserted into the heater core , this helps the Ranco Valve regulate the heat by throttlng back the hot water supply when you get off the highway and the heater suddenly wants to put out 200 degree heat all of a sudden .

I forget exactly where the little tube support clip goes , it prevents the deicate tube from cracking due to excess vibration or folks kicking it .

The TOP hose from the thermostat housing goes to the valve , it makes a huge differance unless you like broiling in the summer....

    Thanks Nate,
That clears a lot up. I'll try to locate one of those books. Sounds like something handy to have. Paul B.

Update: Just ordered an accesory manual from Classic Parts. Thanks
