new front brake shoes are different thickness, unfortunatly i have both of the thicker shoes on the same side.. and the drum ill not fit.. is it normal for them to be differnt thicknesses? if so where does the thcker pad go? i will have to take them apart again and move shoes around.. i guess.
oh man i figureed it out just read the shop manual.. yep they are different.. the short shoes goes in front, the long on the rear.. I have both the rears on same side.. i thought all four shoes where the same... live and learn.

I have herd that if the long ones are placed on the front that they will lock up very eazy. A college professor taught me this in a class on friction. A complete semester on friction only scratched the surface. I have never tried to see if it would lock up.
They Won't Lock up on a Huck (rhymes with SUCK) braking system . In fact , back when lowbuck racing was the norm , we'd use four secondary shoes , this means all longer ones and yes , it did help braking once they'd bedded in , it has to as it increases the total friction area . Prolly not such a good idea tho' Remember to cold adjust the brakes until there's NO drag of shoe against the drum ,this is *very* important as it allows the shoes to cool off and not fade away when you're using them most .(down hills , loaded , high speeds etc.) Expect the brake pedal to go down rapidly as the shoes bed in and get ' arced ' (curved) to perfectly match the drums , just make periodic COLD adjustments until they no longer new adjusting then you're good to go . NEVER wait for the brakes to wear so much the pedal sinks 1/2 way to the toe board before adjusting ! .
