Front hood emblem mounting gasket

    I just bought a front hood emblem and mounting gasket for my 1953 Chevy and I was wondering if you trimmed the gasket around the emblem or just leave it the way it is. Thank you.

    IIRC it isn't supposed to show 'round the edges...

    Actually, originally there was no gasket under the emblem, so I would say that if you do want one, it should not show. But I am not sure by trimming it so much it does not show it would be doing any good for you.

    I thought it looked better showing around the edge about 1/8 inch, but Son thought it would look better trimmed next to the emblem. Either way it should seal ok. We trimmed it back. Thank you.
