Since I upgraded my truck to 12V and installed a self regulated alternator, I decided to make a modern small blade fuse box. I used an old voltage regulator, removed the guts and installed 8 fuses, 4 are bypass and 4 are hot from the battery. Here are some photos of the setup, I will clean it up and take more photos tomorrow. I just wanted to share this idea and get opinions. BTW: I installed the Chevy Duty 12V wiring harness for alternator, but the only provision for Fuses was for the taillight and stop lamps. Now I have a fuse for the electric fan, for a radio, halogen headlamps, for electric wipers and other stuff. Thanks, Antonio '53 3100 (Going for custom rebuild!)
Dat's Bootifull! Great job, Antonio! I can imagine how slick it'll look when those wires are rounded up! Awesome! I will be needing to get more info from you, but I'll pm you when I have more time. Looks like your truck is super clean, too! Thanks for sharing!
What a neat idea! I just installed a fuze block on the firewall under the dash for the same things, using the same wiring harness. I really like the look of what you've done, though, so I think I'll hunt up my old voltage regulator! Thanks for a great idea! Bob
Awsome You're very wise to add additional fused circuits . The tailights should have seperate fuses and the passenger side taillight should be fused to the dashboard lights so you'll instantly know if they ever quit . Here's a thought ~ you could bundle the harness and run it through a grommet _underneath_ the regulator to remove the wires from the engine compartment altogether . Early trucks have an 8 fuse fusebox .
Very nice, might be the coolest upgrade on an AD we've enjoyed in a while. CP ought to copy it and offer it. I used a aftermarket fuse box to enjoy the same advantages. Jim
