I have an '86 Silverado with dual 16 gallon tanks, one is rusting out around the rear strap, so I'm gonna replace the tank. Is there anything I need to or can put on the tank to prevent the new one rusting out?

Like hunter said, some type of rubberized under coating, or hard crap like rhino lining will probably work, and make your tanks stronger!

new tanks usually come with an oily residue , we lightly sand this off and spray it with primer then with rockerguard . we then put bearing grease on the underside of the straps. this usually makes them last longer in the ice and snow here in new brunswick canada.
