Hey guys...I just got my bed of the truck (my 61). I am wanting to install a gas tank under the bed of the truck. I know that the 60-62s are set up different in the rear, and was wondering the best way to go about it. I have heard that jeep gastanks work well, and was wondering how I should hang, weld, duct tape..hehe.. this thing in place. I have found a gas tank from a CJ7 1978-86 that is 15 gallons. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A 71-72 blazer replacement tank (C.D. sells them) fits perfectly. I put one (from a local dealer) in my '63. It was a direct bolt in. The tank is even beveled to pass the rear cross member. The only difficulty i ran into was in the sending units. The sending unit for the blazer was not the correct ohms. I took the guts out of my old sending unit (the curved spring looking thingy) and put it in the blazer sending unit. It works perfectly. Now i just wish I could find one to fit my '59 that well.

    Hi Rod,

Try Van Pershing site. Lots of good ideas over there including gas tank relocation.
