looking to adjust my gear box, before i put my front suspension back on.
I have the instructions.. but i have a question.

directions indicated steering wheel should end up with about 2lbs of pull, with drag link disconnected.. this seem like alot compared to what have now..

the current drag before touching anything does not even registerd on scale.. the steering wheel spins freely..

Follow the instructions to the letter out of the factory shop manual. Get a digital fishing scale used to weigh fish. Get one for fresh water fish as the scale will be lighter. Use the hook on that scale on the steering wheel to measure the lbs. pull while adjusting and it will go very easy.

    Steering Gear Box

First you adjust the worm shaft , this is the long one connected to the steering wheel .

it is critical to use a degree wheel and find the exact center of the steering box before adjusting anything , drag link disconnected .

I like & use 10 inch pounds , the book wants a little bit more .

Then you may use the screw & locknut adjuster on the sector shaft to barely give it zero lash but no preload on that one .

Once the box is centered and adjusted , then you may remove the steering wheel and re-position it correcty , they're often wrong from the factory .

Remember of course , OIL in there ! never any grease . if it drips , use thick oil like STP , Barahl , Motor Honey etc. .

    good question..
what is the normal movement of steering wheel, before the pit man arm starts to move?

DF are you sure your movement is slope in gear box? could be combination of gear box, and steering linkage if you are just looking at wheel movement.
