So, what's involved in swapping a 270 or 302 GMC into an AD Chevy?
    1951, if it matters.
What if it's a "Military Block" GMC?

    Thanks.

What are your plans for the rest of the drivetrain? Period correct trans. and rear end or something different?

Motor mounts & trans. mount (depending on which trans. you use). None of which is really a big deal if you have some fab. skills and access to fab. tools.

Current plan is to keep the original trans and rear -
I love the "three on the tree".
If nothing else, it keeps me from getting carjacked. :)

Also found this, for anyone else contemplating the swap:

What's the deal with the "military" blocks?

It's been done many times. A search of the "Inliners" site would help I'm sure. The front crossmember is different on a GMC but it's no biggie. Radiator moves to the front of the core support and the usual fabricating, linkage/exhaust/etc. The military engine was a sealed engine capable of running under water (with snorkel tube) and can be quickly identified by the cast in shelf to hold a thermite grenade for destruction in case of capture.
