Hello again, I'm looking at buying a 1980 Chevy van with a 350 v8 as a donor vehicle. I Know i could use the engine and auto box plus steering column from it, but also wanted to use the five lug rear axle to replace my current six lug. Does anybody know the width of this axle or whether it will fit under a 1960 Apache panel?

Thankyou in advance, for your help. Steve.;)

I think it is the same but you might want to use a measuring stick to find out for sure.

Measure from backing plate to backing plate on both axles. That should help you determine if it will work.

It is at least 3/4 wider per side ( 1 1/2 inch total) wider than the one you have. It's not a BIG problem as wheel fitment can be done with the proper backspacing.
